Clay Swap

Shlomit Bauman and I exchanged indigenous clays recently in a transaction fraught with symbolism of some obscure variety which may become clearer as time moves on. Shlomit brought me some clay based on samech chamesh, a clay once [but no longer] mined from the Ramon Crater down in the Negev Desert, while I gave her some of our Naaman porcelain clay, from the extinct porcelain factory in Haifa.
